About me
My name is Ashley Brown and I am perusing my MBA with a concentration in Sports Management. My undergraduate degree is in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University. In addition to earning my BSCJ, I graduated Ohio Peace Officer's Training Academy (OPOTA) and became a certified police officer in 2006. I held my certification through Bellevue Police Department for three years working part-time and volunteering at school and community functions. Eventually I found a position at NorthWest Community Correction Center (NWCCC) in Bowling Green, Ohio working as an intake/interview specialist. While at NWCCC I earned my chemical dependency counselor assistant's license (CDCA) and ran intervention classes such as chemical dependency and sex offender treatment programs (SOTP). After working at NWCCC for approximately two years I was hired in at the Seneca County Sheriff's Office in Tiffin, Ohio as a dispatcher. In addition to this job, I was deputized by the Sheriff to hold my license. I was working at the Sheriff's office when I found out I was pregnant with my third child and decided to take the next few years and focus on returning to school to get my MBA and be with my children while they are young. After giving birth to my third child I returned to coaching, which is my true passion. I played two years of college volleyball and coached for Sen-San Volleyball Club in 2005-2006 and volunteered my time in the summer coaching various recreational leagues. In 2012 I returned to volleyball coaching 8th graders at Genoa Middle School. My team went on to ear a second place trophy in the league, falling short to Otsego Middle School. Since my children are getting older now and I am reaching the end of my MBA program, I have began substitute teaching for Fostoria, Bowling Green, Penta Career Center, and Genoa city schools. Being able to work within the school system has enabled me to network with a lot of people, including Principals and Athletic Directors. Due to the connections I have made subbing, I was able to land an internship with Gibsonburg city schools under the athletic director I am excited to continue my career coaching and working with youth sports. I hope that one day it will lead me to a University position or more!
