Matt Harp: Assistant Principal, Athletic Director at Gibsonburg High School
Matt Harp has been the Athletic director for approximately two years at Gibsonburg high school. He was formerly the athletic director at Fostoria City schools and was a teacher for 9 years before that. Matt is additionally the assistant principal for Gibsonburg city schools. He wears multiple hats throughout his days at the school. I was intrigued by how well he was able to manage being a principal and an athletic director. Matt showed me how being organized helps manage holding multiple positions and how he was able to complete any and all paperwork without getting behind. I watched him work from 6:30 in the morning to 10:00 at night a number of times, only going home to see his wife and kids and returning to run a football or basketball game. Matt attended athletic directors meetings and kept staff informed of changes discussed during meetings. He was always prompt and on point when sending and responding to emails. Being the athletic director of a division III school provides many challenges for Matt. Our school often struggles to field a football team, fundraise, and keep coaches for a long period of time, but Matt has become a genious at managing each area and excelling. Gibsonburg has risen to the occasion in many sports including state championships in wrestling, baseball, softball, and track.
