Gibsonburg: Hometown Movie Based on Gibsonburg State Baseball Team Hits the Stands!
Gibsonburg is the true story of a boy's high school baseball team in Ohio that won 6 games and lost 17 games in the regular season. During the regular season, this team lost 13 games in a row and were mercy ruled 7 times. In a magical way, this same team won 8 games in a row to win the state championship! Baseball is the backbone of the film. However, Gibsonburg is much more of a love story coupled with an amazing mystery. Gibsonburg also deals with the real life trials and tribulations of high school students when coming of age. The team of this film was the first team to win a state championship that was run ruled during the regular season, not to mention 7 times!
I had the privilege to work with Kyle Race, the 2005 state championship coach while interning at Gibsonburg. I have learned a lot from him and he has shown me many tricks of the trade as a coach at Gibsonburg.
